Big Smoke in Las Vegas 2010

So I have just arrived in Las Vegas for the Cigar Afficionado Big Smoke weekend. I have tix for the saturday night mixer.

I am skipping the seminars this year. They were very informative and a lot of fun last weekend, but it was very tiring as well. It can be difficult to party until all hours in vegas, then go to a seminar where you really want to pay attention.

I think I probably would have wanted to attend again this year if the giveaways were a little better, and enough for everyone. I also wish that the seminars had a more personal feeling to them. Last year it wasn’t very personable. Your experience may vary…

But I am jazzed about the show tomorrow night. I have a smoking room across the street at the Wynn, so I have already put to be an Artorius. I bought a box of these from a guy in my area that is moving away from his AWESOME walk-in humidor.
I have to be honest, I had not heard anything about this cigar prior to my purchase, and I can tell why. I am dedicated to smoking the whole box, as a daily ‘nothing special’ cigar, but wish I hadn’t spent the price I did pay for the box. (I bought them for 30% lower than the lowest retail price on the internet on that day)

The smoke is a mild to medium, burns pretty nicely, flavor and smoke is a little weak.

I used to smoke these quick sticks daily. They have a nice consistent flavor and are great for a quick 30 minute or less smoke. They come pre-punched for fast lighting. (Get it… pre-PUNCHed? ::grin::) I wouldn’t necessarily bestow one of these cigars ceremoniously on a friend or neighbor, but I would never be concerned about one if I did share with someone. The stick will taste and burn the same to this person that it did to me.

I came across this stick a few years ago and became INSTANTLY hooked. This is probably one of the more expensive cigars I have ever purchased ‘en mass’ but I have to tell you it is truly a wonderful cigar. Rich in spices and woodsy undertones, it retains its rich flavor all the way through, without the bitterness that is common among lesser cigars. This cigar has a true presentation and burn that is well worth the 5 cigar rating as well as a status as a ’special gift’ for those friends/family/business associates who would appreciate an excellent smoke.

A good friend and smoking buddy turned me on to this cigar. This is a very mellow long-lasting peaceful smoke. The slight spice flavors come across in the original draw and stay with you throughout the burn. The burn is even and continuous. I rate this cigar very highly because of its consistency and the great amount of pleasure I have had on every occasion to smoke it. Congrats Gispert. I have added this to my ‘can be smoked daily’ list.

This was a very nice and smooth cigar. Initial flavors of Cocoa and mesquite soften into a mellow woodsy flavor. The smoke burned smoothly and evenly. I enjoyed this cigar. I would recommend this as a nice cigar to enjoy during a mellow time. Good for reflections and times of thought.
